A REAL Teacher!

Tomorrow, I'm getting my first prac student!

(But what is a prac student, I hear you asking.)

It's basically like university training; for most careers these days, you need some sort of professional learning placement. For teaching, I had to do several practical visits in schools where you observe and eventually teach your host class.

Now, I'm going to be the teacher and not the student, for once. I can't wait to meet this mysterious person. I'm hoping to be a good role model. My class is tough, but lovely. And to actually be a mentor to someone else, wow.

I am so excited! Someone hold me back, or I'll end up scaring the poor girl the minute I meet her.

    Go Aly!! It must be such a good feeling to be able to give back some of the advice and support that you got from others when you were doing rounds.

    oh how exciting!I bet you are a great mentor. I wish you were mine when I did my practical visits!!!Cause yep I want to be an elementary school teacher, too!!!=)

    Hope your student teacher is a good one- I had a creepy library student last year who scared off everyone and followed me around at my heels for a week.

    But I'm sure yours will be much better!

    I'm not a teacher, but sometimes there are college students, or even high school students, who get my contact info. and ask for a little bit of mentoring in my line of work. I'm always so happy to help, but at the same time I think, "I'm not really a grown-up professional, am I?" I'M the one who still needs a mentor!

    I remember the joys of being a student teacher! Great you get to now be on the other end! After 5 years in one district, I just moved to a new province and the applications for the school boards are due this week. AH! Not looking forward to it. Nice to read a fellow teacher's blog...will visit again! :)
