Hats Off To You.

Alright blogging friends, I need your expert opinions.

I've never lived in a country where I've needed a winter hat before, and to be perfectly honest? I've never even considered buying one. At the moment though, I think I'm the only person living in London who doesn't own one, and my ears are paying the price.

At the markets in Greenwich yesterday, we found a stall selling hats. Because I couldn't decide on my own, I modelled for a few and figured you guys could be my style gurus and choose me a style. All weird facial expressions aside, which hat doesn't make me look like a moron? Feel free to let me know if I look like a dork in all three styles, though.

(As long as you do it nicely, I promise I'll try not to cry. Too much, anyway.)

Leave your choice in the comments, if you have time. Or, if they are all hideous, feel free to suggest a different style which might suit me a wee bit more. Thanks, lovelies!

  1. Ooh, #3!

But what about a good old winter cap? You can scrunch them up and stuff them in pockets, so they're very handy. They do flatten down the hair, but that has never bothered me.

  2. the fuzzy hat is cute, but you need something that covers your ears! more like a stocking cap. trust me. i've been thru a lot of winters ;)

  3. You look adorable in hats! The first and last are my favorites. I think you're right about the fedora--too K-Fed and Britney. I think you should get both. The fuzzy one will keep you cozy and the baker boy is just too sweet to pass up.

  4. I think you look fabulous in option 1 and 3, in that order. I agree though, if its a winter hat you need it to cover your ears. I might suggest the ear band. That's what I always wore in NYC. Like a head band, but it have mittens for your ears. And it doesn't make your hair staticy.

  5. #3 but I agree that you need either earmuffs (I love 180s - google them) or a stocking hat to cover your ears.

  6. I think #3 is the way to go. Option one is too depression-era. Option two is way too Britney AND K-Fed.
    [sniff, hack]

  7. Ha Ha what a great idea. Number two really made me laugh.

I think number 1 and number 3 both really suit, but in my opinion number 1 just shades it.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I think you look cute in them all, but I think #3 looks like it would be the best in keeping your ears warm

    ReplyDelete
  9. Cool! I think #1 is best - it really suits you. I've lived in the UK all my life and I still haven't got around to buying a hat! :)

    ReplyDelete
  10. I love #1 - but am concerned for the temperature of your ears... even so, love the first the best.

  11. Of your choices above, I like #3 the best, but my vote is for an 'ear band'...I can't live without mine, and it doesn't mess up your hair. For really grossly cold days, I wear a stocking hat (AND my ear band). There are some days when fashion takes a back seat to not freezing to death. ;)

  12. I like the third one, but I also LURVE the first one, maybe because I have one just like it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  13. You look cute in all of them, but #3 is also my favorite. If you're looking for warm ears... I'd go for the simple knit hat that you can yank down over them. It's amazing how much warmer you are when you wear a hat. Amazing. Really. I didn't believe it.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Of course you are BEYOND adorable in all three :) BUT, I happen to like #3 the best! Besides, you *look* most happy in that hat, so I think your inner-fashion-guru was trying to tell you something. haha

    ReplyDelete
  15. If I had to pick one of the three I would def. say #3. #1 is ok. But I agree that if you want to keep your ears warm a nice stocking cap would do the trick.

    ReplyDelete
  16. They all look adorable! But take it from me, #3 will keep you the warmest. Trust me! I am from the cold land of Minnesota!!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Growing up in Buffalo, NY where there is TONS of snow and the winters are freezing I would go with option #3! It definitely looks the warmest! I would also suggest buying one that covers your ears. Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  18. um, you need a beanie. (which, i'm guessing, is the same thing that everyone else is calling a "stocking cap.") but, both the first and third hats here are very cute. buy them anyway! :-P

    ReplyDelete
  19. Baker or Fuzzy though I would tend to the latter. It will keep your ears warm plus you look really cute in it.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I think that number 1 is number 1.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Man, everyone's said it already! But I will echo. Beanie/stocking cap will do the trick for the ears. Hats 1 and 3 are super-cute. Alynda + hat = awesome. =)

    ReplyDelete
  22. I like 1 and 3 the best...I think 3 would do the better job of keeping your ears warm, though!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I like 3 best. I like 1 too, but 3's the best. It makes you look like a Londoner.

    ReplyDelete
  24. The 3rd one. The Fedora looks looks like it belongs on a man, and the first makes me think of trampy it-girls. And fallen soufflé's. A face like yours should be adorned, not hidden away under a soufflé.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I vote baker boy - I love baker boy hats, and it looks cute on you. That said, I'm totally the wrong person to advise because I am SO not a hat person. I always feel really self-conscious in winter hats, so mine is a green wooly cap that gets pulled over my ears for walking the dog and left at home the rest of the time.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Out of the three, I'd go with the fuzzy hat. I apologize that I can't be more help, but also originating from a warm climate I have very little use for hats.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I like number one the best... I had one like number three in the UK and believe me, when it was really cold it did NOT keep my ears warm.

Having said that i am not sure number 1 will either. Did you see that black hat I had last winter, kinda like a slouchy beret?

    ReplyDelete
  28. I like the Baker Boy the best.

However none of those hats cover your ears, so how are they winter hats :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. #3, it's the only one that comes remotely close to keeping your ears covered!

    ReplyDelete
  30. omg baby ... you are to cute ... hats look awesome on you (well except #2 - too britney for sure - and what is with your eyes in this pic ... you even have a britney stunned expression LMAO)
but i agree with what everyone else has said these will NOT keep your ears warm - you need a nice knitted one - like the one nanna made last winter ...that pulls down over your ears
and don't forget - nanna said to keep warm LOL

ps - #1 is sooooooooooooo cute

    ReplyDelete
  31. cute as they are, none of those will keep your ears warm dearie! You need something closer to the head, probably knit, that covers your ears!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I vote hat #1. It's so cute on you!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I love hats! Number 1 is a great choice and it looks really good on you. Number 3 is cute too and if you love it, then it is the right one. Good luck choosing!

    ReplyDelete
  34. You look adorable in all three, but number 3 is by far the best. You are SO a hat person!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Number 3 for sure. I wish I lived in a place where I could wear hats - if I did, it'd be the fuzzy hat hands down.

    ReplyDelete
  36. #3 is adorable, but I think you need a knit cap that will go over your ears!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I think you have the prefect beautiful long hair to suit all three! But #3 is my fave - very cute! lol!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Besides freezing the ears off bit, as everyone here has mentioned, I like #1. You can always wear in during spring or summer. #3 is good and all but it's a little too common these days - baker boy is little bit more unique. :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. You look adorable in all three. I guess, for me, I like 3, then 2 then 1. SUPER cute. And no, you don't reek of Brit in #2 -- maybe if you don't wear knickers (ha! see? I can use it, too!) and flash those brits, but...you're much too classy!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I vote for the baker boy, #1, but its not going to keep your ears warm. You need a beanie or one of those furry caps with ear flaps for that ... warm, but don't know if I'd wear one in a public street.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Option 3!

It does the most for the ear coverage, warmth and cuteness. Number one is indeed cute but doesn't offer as much in the other two categories. Number two is right out.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Of the three, I like number one, then number three. However, I think what you should really do if you're worried about your ears is get a real winter hat--called a toque in Canada. Just a basic, scrunchable woolly hat that you can pull down over your ears. You have the straight hair that can take that kind of hat.

    ReplyDelete
  43. i like the first two. you look so cute in them!

    ReplyDelete
  44. As a Canadian, I think I can say with certainty that I we are one of the authorities on hats.

Of the options posted, I like #1 and #3. They're cute and fashionable and you look great in them.

However, you do need a hat that covers your ears and keeps the wind out. Something like a stocking cap or something made of polar fleece. Definitely. Your ears will thank me.

So, now I've given you an excuse to buy not only ONE but THREE hats. Yahoo! Don't forget warm mitts and a scarf, too.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I haven't got time to read through all your comments but judging by the number of them, your choice could be harder than you first thought. ;)

My opinion? I think number 1 suits your face the best. I HATE number 2 and think number 3 looks fine.

Consider comfort and warmth as higher factors than appearance though. How you feel is more important than what anyone else thinks. :) Good luck deciding.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Ooooh I like number one!! But I agree with some other posters...in chilly London, do you need something warmer? Regardless, you look fab in hats.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I like the baker boy. I think it suits you much more than the other two.

    ReplyDelete
  48. My vote is for #3. But don't forget about the humble beanie. It kept my ears nice and toasty warm in the cold London winter.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I'm not really a hat person either, but I guess I would say either 1 or 3.

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Cute in all of them, but I vote for the fedora, as it makes you look curious and investigative, which you've clearly been. Plus, it's kinda fully English and when in Rome...uh...try the wine.

    ReplyDelete
  51. umm.....I don't believe any of them will keep your ears warm...sooo try either a beanie with ear flaps or ear muffs! :D

and....to be honest, I don't think those hats really suit you all that much (don'tkillmeplease) that being said, i suggest ear muffs :) cos then you're not wearing a hat but your ears are still warm. lol I have no idea, i'm just rambling.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I'd just wear a beanie. Since they're winter hats and warmest. Out of those, option 3. Option 1 is too trendy, reminds me of teenage girls. And 2 is too K-Fed. 3 is cute.

And did I mention I'm TwentyEffingFour tomorrow? That's mid twenties. Woah.

    ReplyDelete
  53. first or third.
Only jason mraz can successfully pull off a fedora.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Definitely number 3, but I agree with almost everyone else: get yourself something that will cover up your ears.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I really like #1 on you but #3 is good too!
Something else you could concider: Earbags. Two friends of mine have them and they love them. I am still in between finding them a bit ridiculous and thinking they're a great idea. I think I will buy them though if I can find them at a store in Munich sometime. Because it is a great way to keep your ears warm without getting hat hair!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I like #1. I have a similar one and I always get compliments when I wear it.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Oh. I came back to say that I bought a hat, over the weekend, that is knit, pulls down to cover the ears and is cute.

I'll post it to my flickr so you can see.

    ReplyDelete
  58. First off.. very cute layout for displaying different hat options.

i say buy two hats .. the fedora and the fuzzy hat. But... if you are to buy only one hat, then get the fuzzy hat. It looks adorable on you ;) and if you are most comfortable sporting that particular hat ...... need I say more?

    ReplyDelete
  59. I'd go with the fuzzy bucket hat as my #1 choice: it suits you, and it'll be the warmest of the bunch. Bucket hats can cover the ears without ear flaps.
I don't think you have the right face shape for the fedora, but the baker boy is cute.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I vote on the Baker boy hat. I think it's the cutest and most flattering on you.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Okay, you are one of those lucky people who can pull off any hat. If I have to choose just one though, my pick is #3. I think it suits you the best and plus, it looks warmer than the others!

    ReplyDelete
  62. I like them all on you, but I'm leaning toward the fuzzy hat or the fedora. Go buy one now and post more pics!! Hee hee!

    ReplyDelete
  63. #1 is rather fashionable; #2 - HECK NO! #3 is cute too, but I think #1 is the best choice!

    ReplyDelete
  64. As a Canadian, I am all too accustomed to hat (and humidity) hair.
I would have to go with #3- very cute!!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Gorgeous in all, but my preference is number 3

    ReplyDelete
  66. Definitely no.1 gets the vote from me. Very London!
Go on - be brave - it looks great on you!

    ReplyDelete
  67. 73 comments?!?!?! wooooah it took me AGES to scroll down, Lol! :D

Anywho.. what about a good ol' beanie? (i have NO idea what they call them in England, bah!)

But i LOVE number 3, very cute! Although, u pull off 1 and 2. Good job! :P

    ReplyDelete
  68. the baker boy...def.

    so cute.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Go 1 and 3. That way you can mix it up, depending how you feel.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Fuzzy hat! Fuzzy hat!

I have a problem with committing to hats too - I worry about hat-hair when I take it off.

Seriously, they all look great but fuzzy is my fave.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I look stupid in ALL winter hats. So I just choose the cheapest. Currently I'm wearing a Chicago Bears hat that I swiped from a dude I met in a bar. And allI had to do was make out with him.

And it is a WARM hat. :)
