A Post With Real Words.

I did promise a proper post yesterday, so thought I had better follow through.

Hi!

I feel like I've been completely scatterbrained and all over the place when it comes to blogging, hence the abundance of short and sweet posts lately. Over the last few weeks, I had fallen into a routine of getting home, updating this blog and then checking up on all of you across the evening. Since starting this new job though, the routine has been tossed to the wind and I haven't even come close to keeping up with things!

Things are going well at the current job, even if I am still finding my bearings. I'm learning their procedures, I'm working out their database and I'm trying to absorb as much as I can without being too annoying with all of my questions. I'm not used to working in an office, so I have a tendency to zone out the ringing phones, er, oops?

Worst thing is not being able to be home so early, as I'm working longer hours now. I still make it home before poor Jason does, and it's not a long commute, but I've been spoiled with the early finish that comes with being a teacher. It'll take some getting used to, but I think I can manage it. Plus, they were aware of my five weeks of USA-conquering in August/September right from the beginning, meaning they have basically been approved from scratch. I'm happy, and that's all that matters.

You'll have to bear with me for the time being, at least until I get some sort of a routine panned out again. And as for catching up on your blogs? I should be done by the end of the year fairly soon. In fact, I think I'll go and read some now. Just let me have a quick nap first, and I'll get straight on that ....

Starting a new job is always exhausting. I know what you mean about not wanting to bother anyone with too many questions. I think this is how it is for everyone when they first start a new job. Good luck adjusting!

Job stuff takes A LOT out of you. Sometimes all I want to write about and all I can think about it work. But I really can't talk that much about work on my blog, so it leaves me with nothing.

Give it a month, and you'll be settled in. It just takes time.

Glad your job is working out so far! You'll find your routine soon enough, no need to rush it I say. Just let it all fall into place.

An office environment does take getting used to. As long as you are working regular hours and not going too late into the night, consider yourself lucky. Then again, the industry that you are in doesn't work that way anyway.

Heheh zoning out on the phones - that's a classic.

Yay Aly! Sounds exciting.

And blogging and reading blogs? Bah. Don't worry about it if you don't have time.

Just enjoy yourself and be happy :)

Not fun learning new databases :( Reckon you'll find your groove soon though. Do you have a special Alynda mug or similar? I find that having little personal stuff on my desks cheers me up a lot.

Starting a new job and finishing up an old job are both exhausting. Have wine.

It took me over a month to get used to my job when I took it. I know that's not the most encouraging news, but feeling a little overwhelmed and needing time to get into a routine is totally normal.

Glad you're off to a good start!

I feel the need to make you some tea and fetch your slippers. If you have slippers, that is. Or like tea.

Anyway! I'm glad to hear things are going well. New jobs are crazy with how they absolutely drain you for weeks! before you get a handle on the new schedule. At least, that's been my experience. Smooches, and rest to you, dear.

I hope the new job turns out to be the right mix of learning and fun. it already sounds pretty darn good since they are cool with your tour of the states (as we here in the US of A like to call it).

More importantly, did you ever find the perfect black boot?

Starting out at a new job always leaves you exhausted. In a few weeks this will all be old hat.

I sincerely hope that you don't have the same side effects of working in an office as I did.
Glad that you're enjoying yourself, dear!

wish I could zone out ringing phones...*evil eyes her mobile*

Ooh - please share how you strike-out words in a post. Is it some quirky html code??

Getting used to working longer hours is tough but you will soon get into it. Office work isn't the worst though unless you got bitchy colleagues.

It's hard getting used to a new schedule. Nothing terribly new is going on at my blog, so feel free to skim if that saves you time!

I'm in the same boat with you. Google Reader is kicking my arse.

Ugh. I sooo feel you on feeling all scatterbrained, especially about blogging. I feel like my brain has run off, and forgot to tell me where it was going.
Come back brain! I miss you. :-(
