Vlogging

I've never made it to any blogger meetups - not because I didn't want to (I WANT TO!) but because being based in Australia and then London, I've been thousands of miles away from most of my blog crushes who live in America.

I was lucky when I travelled through the US in 2008, as I managed to catch up with my longtime friends Janet and Jen who were just as fabulous in person as they are on their blogs. I also met the lovely Lala and Mick way back when, thanks to this here blog. I stalked Julie while she was vistiting London and I've been really close to meeting NPW, Elise and Lara too. But there are still so many amazing people out there I've yet to come into contact with.

Maybe one day our paths will cross and I'll get a chance to introduce you to my nerd-self in person - but until then? I've decided to be stupid brave and record my first video blog. Making the video was hard, but putting it up on the blog was even harder - so be kind, won't you?

And before I begin, you have to know what you're getting yourself in for just by checking out the freeze frame of the video. I mean, really? LOOK AT THE CRAZY EYES. I also seem to forget how to speak the English language when I'm nervous. And keep my eyes closed quite a bit, which is really weird - do I do that in person? I have no idea.

Anyway, you have been warned.

V-Log Round 1! from Aly S on Vimeo.

Sorry if the sound is strange - I recorded it through my webcam which I've never done before.

Okay four things:

1) You are hilarious and so cute (your hair does not look crazy). I LOVE your accent!

2) I hate grocery shopping too. Hate it. But my husband typically works on the weekends so I have to do it anyway.

3) Your cat makes me laugh. So curious!

4) And I like that you talked about garbage and what you do - I'm learning things about London. :)

Great video blog!

I love your accent! I'm actually about to post my first video blog, if it'll upload correctly.

Yours looks great! I hope to see more in the future.

Oh Aly, you are too cute! I love your vlog, it was great to see (& hear) you talk and move and stuff, haha.
I really want to do one of these sometime this summer, just need to think of something to vlog about.

I think you did a great job on your first video blog *round of applause*... I have yet to do a video blog. That's something I do hope to do one day. I like your blog, because your personality really shines through it. I especially like that "pic of the month" that shows Oscar. Too cute! Anyway, I'll be in touch. :-)

I just realized...I can't follow you on blogger. Why is that?

I know this has been said already, but your accent is so lovely!!!!

I desperately want your accent.

Dude... you sound a bit American! What's up with that? But cute!

And I think all that gymming is paying off, you look hot (and not in an "apartment is hot) way!

Yay for vlogging! I am so not brave enough to do that. You're so sweet (awesome teeth btw) and I have to concur with the crowd and say I really wish I had an aussie accent. :)

I am anti grocery shopping too. I will only do it if I have a set list and know I can be in and out as fast as humanly possible. And I'll never go alone. Ugh. Hate it. :)

don't be fooled by the rocks that I got, I'm still, I'm still Aly from The Blog.

I'm HILARIOUS.

Also. I love you. Lets skype again soon, yes?

My first thought was, my GOD her hair is looking GOOD! ^_^

I like the vlog idea, it makes me feel like I've actually had a chat with you, when really I haven't. That way I don't miss you so much :)

Yay!! Congratulations on your first video blog! I think you look amazing and not at all crazy. Plus, I love your accent. So jealous!

I'm not a big fan of grocery shopping, mainly because I hate having to carry it home (I can't drive). And taking the bins out is not something I'm a fan of either!

Oh my gosh you're awesome!

I really need to jump on the vlog bandwagon.

Love love love your accent!! :D It was SO nice to see you and hear you :) And your kitty!! We should totally meet up when I'm in London in Aug!

OK, you are adorable, and also after you said that thing about the eyes I watched for it and didn't notice it at all. Some people talk with their eyes closed as a weird tic and I did not see that about you at all.

OMG your accent! Is adorable! And I am a DORK because even though I clearly know you are from Australia and living in London now, which you even MENTIONED in he blog right before the blog, I was still taken aback by your accent, like I wasn't expecting it or something. Oh my lands I hope I can blame this one on medications for my lingering illness...because otherwise I should really just pack it in and call my life a day if I can't anticipate an accent.

Also, beside the accent, you are adorable too, and I second most of what the other comments say (the cat is teh awesome).

Aly, this was amazing! Do it more often!

And Oscar! :) I loves him. Marley and Milo were so excited to see him!

You're gorgeous! And this is a great idea - I desperately want to do it now, but don't have a webcam. Mind you, I'm sure that can be arranged...

Oh, and 'Aly from the blog' is only JUST pipped at the post by 'it's very wispy...' :-P

And hey, maybe people will love MY accent too!

heidikins said...

Um, you are absolutely charming. I want to bottle up your accent and drink it (that may sound creepier than it is intended to sound. I'm not psycho, I promise.)

Also? You are gorgeous. Photos do not do you justice. I now have a girl-bloggy-crush on you, your accent, your orange cabinets, and your health-make-over-lifestyle.

Loves!

I finally got around to watching this...and you are too cute! I love video blogs because it's so nice to actually see people who you read all the time.

Lara said...

That was awesome. And yes, the accent is adorable. :-P

You're inspiring me to figure out the whole Vlogging thing and see if I should do it...

Accent!!

Also, trash bags directly on the street is totally nasty. Interesting that they do it that way. Seems like bags might rupture and garbage might spill everywhere.

instatick said...

That was wonderful and hilarious! You're adorable! And the Oscar cameo was priceless. And your accent and hearing you talk about "rubbish" just made my day.

You are fabulous, and that's all there is to it. I hate grocery shopping, too, and will scrounge together whatever I can find in the kitchen to avoid taking a 10-minute trip to the store. Thank goodness for the grocery-shopping men in our lives!

Love love love love it!
I need more v-logging. I just got a new macbook with a camera, so maybe I will vlog? Or maybe we can skype?

I miss you Aly!!

I'm planning on coming back in October! See you then?
