After the embryo transfer yesterday, I spent the rest of the day chilling out in bed and trying to take it easy. J had gone back to work for a little while, so it was just me & the kitties. And Scully and Mulder.
I'm blessed with my two cats. Oscar has always been a big teddy bear, happy to let you pick him up and give him all kinds of love. Evie, while still very timid with strangers, is the most snuggly cat I've ever met.
As soon as I lay down to rest, both of them jumped up on the bed with me. Oscar planted himself at my feet and proceeded to snore away the afternoon. Evie though, hopped up on my tummy and lay there for hours. She literally did not move from that one spot. From my angle, it looked a little like this:
As she lay there, she purred. Her whole teeny body was vibrating, and I felt it (in a non pervy way) reverberating all around my abdomen. It was the most calm feeling, and it was such a lovely way to relax after the stress and drama of the last weeks of IVF treatment. I kind of wish I could spend the entire TWW that way.We were joking about it earlier, and J suggested that it might be because she knows something we don't. I think he's being crazy optimistic since we don't even know how this will turn out, but I love him all the same for thinking it.

Anyone who knows me at all, will know how long I've wanted a dog. I grew up with dogs, and have always wanted one of my own.The puppy plan went out the window when we moved to the UK. In the meantime, we adopted our two sweet kitties. I adore them and wouldn't change our decision to be a kitty mama for anything.
But, it's almost time. The house is looking more lived in now, and we finally, FINALLY have grass laid on our block. The fencing has been finished and the landscaping is in its final stages.
So this morning, we went to see these little guys:
Say hello to a lovely litter of 6 day old Golden Retriever puppies! Yes, we'll be adopted a little man of our own in just seven weeks time. I am so excited, I've been bouncing up and down all day and trying to figure out the right name to use. (It has to match Oscar and Evie, of course.) It's finally happening - we're getting our dog!
This time frame, while agonisingly far away at the moment, is probably a good thing. You see, our IVF cycle (all going well, of course) should hopefully see retrieval & transfer happening at the end of April/beginning of May. That means.... our possibility of BFN will be mid-May.
We'll pick our puppy up at the end of May (on Jason's birthday!) so if things don't work out on the IVF front this time around, I'll still have something to look forward to. Something so, so incredible. Sure, puppies are cute - but I can't wait for the 'big dog' stage, where we can go for walks together. Hurry up, May!

The Fur Babies

... that two fur-babies could bring us so much joy?
... that I'd become a CAT lady - me, who only ever had dogs growing up?
... that Oscar would be such a good big brother?
... that these two would so quickly take over their new house?
These two cats: love them.

You guys, I am in love.
Oh....
And then there's the fact that WE OWN OUR HOUSE NOW.
Yes! Keys were handed over yesterday. We are looking at moving January 12th. Nearly everything is done perfectly, with the exception of the driveway, which {thanks to rain} will have to wait until next year.
2012 is going to be wonderful!
