A Grunge-Dandified Sort of Day.

Last year, I had hundreds of hits from people surfing in from the NaBloPoMo Randomizer. Vice versa, it allowed me to find a stack of other wonderful bloggerson my journey as well. This year's Randomizer doesn't seem to be quite as fantastic. So far, in the few hours I've spent flicking through it, I've noticed these things:

*Bloggers who haven't even posted ONCE in November.
*Spam blogs that are using NaBloPoMo to advertise their goods.
*It's not giving a good representation of blogs - it is spitting out about 10-20 blogs before cycling them and going back to the original one.

As for stats, I've not yet noticed any NaBloPoMo related hits in the past few days. It's a bit sad, as I was hoping to make some more blogmates, but doesn't seem to be happening so far. Has anyone else noticed that something is off, or is it just grumpy little me? (And yes. I'm still grumpy. Incredibly grumpy. Be on your toes.)

In other news, today's question(s) come from the lovely Alix.

1. What is your favourite word? Ha. I say that alot. Or.. bugger.
2. What is your least favourite word? Er, deliberate. Tyra says it on ANTM, but if I say it too many times, it doesn't sound like it's a real word. You try it.
3. What turns you on? Kindness.
4. What turns you off? Rudeness.
5. What sound or noise do you love? Music & Laughter.
6. What sound or noise do you hate? My phone alarm. Means I need to get up.
7. What is your favourite curse word? Shit.
8. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? I'd love to write. Or work with animals. Both unlikely, though.
9. What profession would you not like to do? Anything on Dirty Jobs. Yikes!
10. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? 'Ah yes, we've heard good things about you.'

Feel free to use any of these, if you are so inclined. I'm off to learn the Thriller dance some more, because guess what? My kidlets are performing it for their item later this term. (I am possibly more excited than they are. Oh dear.)

I've been a little disappointed with the randomiser, too. Although, I commented on a couple of blogs, and I got a reply back!
Someone also replied to my comment and said they'd added me to their Google Reader as well...
I'm movin' up!

That's no good about the NaMaBloPlo thingy click stuff. Not really in the spirit is it. Certainly not the Thriller kind of spirit :-)

I have noticed that about the randomizer as well. Were they using the same tool last year?

Those questions are the ones James Lipton always uses in Inside the Actors Studio. It's pretty fantastic to hear what all these random famous people think about such things. And now I can happily add Alyndabear to the people who have answered these questions for me. Or not specifically for me. But you know what I mean.

(It's just on the wrong ning!)

I've never done NaBloPoMo before but I've noticed that the Randomizer is pretty useless. I found this post through 20somethings' RSS feed, which is a pretty useful way of finding out who's actually posting new stuff this month.

Seriously, the Thriller Dance? As in Michael Jackson? Please, please tell me that you're going to video it and share it with the Internets! Please???

(I agree with you about the Randomizer, too.)

But but but ... you found me! Sort of. I mean, you commented on my blog. Even though I'm not participating in NaBloPoMo because I know I'll be one of those non-posters and ruin it for everyone else. And maybe you really hate my blog. Which would make me sad, though determined to make you like my blog. In any case, there are ways to find new blogging buddies outside of NaBloPoMo ... diversify your resources!

I stopped with the NaBloPoMo and took my profile down sadly. I can't blog everyday in November nor in any other month even if I tried :) I noticed some hits on my blog from NaBloPoMo but nothing spectacular :) Anyway keep blogging I will always hit your site to check what's up with you and the kidlets

I've clicked on the randomizer and come up with some random crap. Nothing good to read. But I keep trying, so maybe someone else will keep trying and they will find you!

The randomizer is super disappointing this year, I agree. :(

I actually haven't tried the randomizer so I'm not sure how it's working, but I haven't noticed any hits on my page coming from it. And that is awesome that your class is learning the Thriller dance! I learned it for a dance class in high school, but have sadly forgotten most of it now.

I can't even figure out how to get the randomizer to work. If I can't figure things out in 5 minutes, sometimes I quit. I'll probably figure it out around the 29th of November. Now I am so excited to hear about the kidlets doing Thriller. You must, must, must take photos and share (is that allowed? probably not. but you could ask parents if they are posting pictures and share them.....)

This is my first year at NaBloPoMo. I actually found out about it last year, when I was a rookie blogger, halfway through November. I made last December my own little NaBloPoMo. And at that time, only my mom was reading.

Maybe it is because everyone is on the NaBloPoMo site? And we are supposed to find people through there? Who knows....

The Thriller dance? Awesome! That's like one of my favorite parts in 13 Going on 30.

Well I wasn't a part of NaBloPoMo last year so I can't compare, but I have noticed a lot of spam blogs and blogs that are password protected. Why did you sign up for people to read it if they can't access it? Grrrr.

Yeah, the randomizer is leaving me feeling unfulfilled. I didn't do NaBloPoMo last year so I have no form of reference, but I didn't pick up 100 new readers yet this month, so for me it's a bust.

I haven't tried the randomizer much, but a few new people have friended me on the NaBloPoMo network and I've met a few new pals that way!

Is Australia on the same schedule for the latest season of ANTM?

I'm sorry about the grumpy. I am too! But it's because of work. Ugh.

I tried the randomizer. It sucks. I've met three awesome people, but I gave up on it eventually. Also, I'm drowning in NaBlo posts. I can't catch up. :,

Um, I so see you as a writer. Why not keep copious notes while you're in London and turn it into a novel about a fun-loving, adventurous Aussie who spends a year with the Queen? Seriously, I'll totally buy it!

Yeah, but at least I've found your blog through 20 somethings and I love it. :)

Hi!

I've seen your blog listed on some bloglists, and I finally got around to checking it out! I can't wait to read more.

This is my first year doing NaBloPoMo, and I love that I have so many blogs to read! (I have been posting every day anyway, so that part is not hard for me...)

I checked out the Randomizer yesterday and was so confused by getting the same five sites, CNN.com, and a bunch of ad sites that I closed it and went on my merry way. Hopefully they get the bugs worked out.

Anyway, this comment is getting rather lengthy...Just thought I'd stop by and say hi!

The whole ning thing is too hard for me to figure out, after putting a lot of time and energy into figuring out facebook. As for the randomizer, it's let in a lot of icky stuff. I think Mrs. Eden has got her hands way too full on this one, and could use some help.

Jamie said...

I would like to see video of you are your kids dancing to Thriller plz!

Heather (in Scotland) said...

Now, when you say "deliberate" do you mean as in "the judges will now deliberate on who to choose" or "that was a deliberate mistake"??

mcgee said...

the image of a group of cute little kiddies re-enacting the thriller dance is just precious!

I haven't tried the randomizer yet, but maybe I should give it a try! I like reading your answers to people's questions, sometimes things like that can bring out great posts!

I found you through the randomizer. :D This is my first year participating, and I started late. As fate would have it, I know your mom through scrapbooking.

Thanks for featuring me babe, I’ve not posted since Halloween as I’ve still got that cold 7 weeks and counting, I’ve lost most of my speaking voice and apparently sound really sexy on the phone now! It’s amazing how sounding in pain makes you sound sexy!!! I think I lost most of my brain cells as well as I didn’t understand what every one was going on about NaBloPoMo sounds a bit like someone with tourettes syndrome and had to ask (I find if I don’t understand something it’s always best just to confess and asked what it is rather than pretend you know what’s going on)
So sorry if I missed the boat or didn’t complete the chain, I’ve not been bloging for a year yet I only started in March this year so I don’t know all the rules, let me know if I was suppose to do some thing and I will.
Any help they do the thriller dance In 13 going on 30 which for some mad reason is a favourite of mine – so not what I normally like but it just hits all the right buttons!

Anyhoo gotta couple more projects to finish Seeya hugya *G* aka alix
